Online — Digital Case Diary
Quick e-Filing
File online through the Digital Case Diary, then carry the originals in. The e-filing date is what stops limitation — but the FR number only appears after the physical file is accepted.
High Court of Karnataka — Principal Bench · Attara Kacheri
Accepted case types — these only
Anything not on this list goes to the counter.
When you can file
Any time — the portal does not keep counter hours. The physical submission that follows does.
Avoid
Do not e-file and then let the clock run. Originals are due within 3 working days for urgent matters and 7 for ordinary ones.

Know what stopped the clock
Rule- Limitation for an e-filed matter runs from the date of e-filing, not from the date you hand over the originals.
- This is Rule 14 of the Karnataka Electronic Filing (E-filing) Rules, 2021.
- Limitation itself is no different from physical filing — only the date it starts from.
Done when
You have recorded the e-filing date as the date for limitation.

Track the status
Rule- Log in to the Online Digital Case Diary to follow the matter.
- Once accepted, status reflects in the Case Diary.
Done when
The matter is visible and tracking in your Case Diary.

Record your references
Write the e-filing date down first. It is the date limitation runs from, and it is not the date on your FR number.
